First determine which stage of treatment you are in
| Current situation | What to know first | Next step information |
|---|---|---|
| The cause of infertility has not yet been determined | Physician evaluation and necessary tests, possible treatment options | Medical history, existing examinations of both parties, pregnancy and surgical records. |
| Prepare to retrieve eggs or create new embryos | IVF, ICSI, culture and possible testing | Ovarian reserve, semen and past cycle data. |
| Frozen embryos are available | Frozen embryo transfer, embryo reception and pre-transfer assessment | Embryo culture, freezing, testing and storage records. |
| Desire to preserve future reproductive options | Egg freezing or other fertility preservation | Age, medical history, planned time and preservation goals. |
If there is a known risk of genetic disease, recurrent miscarriage or a complicated medical history, this should be explained before the initial consultation. Do not first arrange the entire itinerary based on the advertised price of the "normal period" and then add important information that may change the plan.

Under the same brand, doctor consultation, blood drawing and ultrasound, egg retrieval and transfer are not necessarily in the same place. The scope of the clinic and the specific arrangements for one treatment should be viewed at different levels.
How to look at doctors, language and medical plans together?
Start by reading the doctor's complete English name, education and specialty training, clinical direction, and public admissions location. If you have been treated before, focus on how the new doctor explains past records and why you continue or adjust the plan, rather than just asking "which doctor has a higher success rate".
When Chinese is required, the doctor's own language, coordinator and translator are further distinguished. The Chinese appointment portal can help initiate contact, but there must still be clear communication arrangements for the doctor's explanation of diagnosis and treatment, informed consent and medication instructions.
What should I take away from my first remote consultation?
- 01
Medical history is fully understood
Examinations, medications, surgeries, and results of each treatment have been verified, and doctors have provided information that is still missing.
- 02
Treatment directions explained
What options are available, why one is recommended, the main risks and possible changes. You can leave items to be determined during the first consultation, so you don’t have to decide all the items on the spot.
- 03
There is a responsible person for follow-up tasks
Who sends the checklist, who receives the results, when we will discuss it again, and how to get a personal written quote.
The value of the first consultation goes beyond getting a "it's okay to come to the United States." If the doctor, plan, location, and quote range are not yet clear, the next step is usually to complete the information rather than immediately purchase a non-refundable ticket.
What are the components of the U.S. IVF budget?
Hospital clinical fees, medications, labs and testing, preservation, future transfers, and airfare, accommodation, and transportation all occur at different stages. The price of an egg retrieval cycle and the total expenditure of a complete fertility plan are not the same number.
At present, the RPMG fee page has a public project scope, the HRC egg freezing page has basic included projects, and other institutional information also introduces the billing method. Different clinics, different treatments, and different inclusions cannot be ranked directly.

How is cross-border medical treatment usually divided into stages?
The common sequence is: remote consultation, follow-up inspection at the local or designated location, obtaining the plan and cost estimate, going to the United States according to the cycle, egg retrieval or transfer, and follow-up after obtaining the report. Testing, freezing and follow-up visits may separate egg retrieval and transfer into different stages.
Visa materials, entry requirements, international flights and medical dates are handled separately. The fact that the hospital is willing to receive treatment does not mean that a visa has been obtained or that the patient can enter the country on a certain date; both application and entry should truthfully state the actual purpose.

Where to continue reading?
There has been an examination, but the hospital has not been determined yet
First prepare a medical history summary and a list of questions, and then select two or three clinics for targeted initial consultation communication.
Already have a quote from the hospital, would like to know if it is complete
Check medications, anesthesia, testing, transfer and storage against cost categories, as well as frequency, cancellation and refund rules.
There are already embryos, do I need to do the egg retrieval cycle again?
Redo should not be directly defaulted to. Let the doctor review the existing embryos and personal information before discussing reception, transfer or other options.
