Guide to traveling to the United States·Los Angeles expenses and budget

Los Angeles IVF Budget: Medical Expenses, Accommodation and Transportation, and Self-Complete Calculator

Hospital cost estimates are only part of the budget for traveling to the United States. It is easier to see the real gap by separating the "determined amount" from the "items that have not yet been quoted" and then arranging funds according to egg retrieval, transfer and subsequent storage.

The budget is first organized in US dollars, and cross-currency services are accounted for separately; blank items are not included in the total tool count, nor can they be regarded as zero cost.

What original data should be prepared first?

Collect the doctor's plan, the hospital's itemized cost estimate, the pharmacy's cost estimate, testing and storage instructions, plus the proposed itinerary. Write down the organization, date, currency, validity period and contact person for each piece of information.

If there is only "how much is one cycle", go back to the included items and times first, and don't rush to convert it into RMB. Reference ranges can help understand orders of magnitude, but personal budgets still need to correspond to the projects you plan to perform.

First look at the US cost estimate caliber and public fee examples

Divide expenditures into six categories to avoid double counting

ClassificationWhich items to put inCommon omissions
Medical treatment and examinationInitial consultation, examination, ultrasound blood drawing, egg retrieval and anesthesiaAnesthesia or facility fees may not be included in the operating quote.
MedicationBefore and after ovarian stimulation and egg retrieval, transfer preparation and subsequent medicationWhen additional medication is required, the amount may change.
Laboratory and testingICSI, culture, biopsy, genetic testingBiopsy and sample testing may be charged separately.
Transfer and preservationThawing, transfer, freezing and ongoing storageDo not repeat the transfer items already included in the total clinical price.
Travel and AccommodationAir tickets, accommodation, transportation, companionship and daily lifeAdditional expenses caused by multiple trips to the United States or postponement.
Other reservationsTranslation, commissioned services, payment of fees, etc.Clear the corresponding services and currencies before counting them.

The categories in the calculator are billing methods, not hospital fixed charge groupings. If the cost estimate combines several items into one amount, put it into one of the categories and indicate the inclusion in your own details to avoid adding it again.

Self-filling budget tool

Enter the dollar amount of the quote obtained. The input is only calculated in the current browser and is not uploaded or automatically converted; items that have not yet been quoted need to be completed separately.

YOUR OWN ESTIMATE / Fill in the dollar amount
Total items filled in$0.00

Only the amount you fill in is totaled, not the hospital's cost estimate. Unfilled fields are not counted; entries are not collected or saved.

How to estimate accommodation, transportation and companionship?

Accommodation is first selected based on the actual treatment location and frequency of visits to the hospital, and then the long-term stay conditions, parking, cooking, laundry and cancellation policies are compared. Don't just choose a place by "in Los Angeles," transportation arrangements can be very different between Orange County, the South Bay, and the West Side.

When egg retrieval and transfer are carried out to the United States separately, two itineraries are established respectively. Air ticket changes, accommodation extensions, accompanying personnel transportation, post-anesthesia pick-up and drop-off, and daily purchases can all be listed separately in their own details. Reduce the burden of change with adjustable bookings while the number of days is still to be determined by your doctor.

Why is it best to keep multiple versions of a budget?

VersionCorresponding situationKey inspections
Current planThe doctor's proposed egg retrieval or transfer arrangementWhether the quoted items are complete.
Delay or increase monitoringDate Changes, Additional Reviews and MedicationsHow accommodation, ticket changes and medication costs change.
NEXT STAGE NEEDEDEgg retrieval, subsequent transfer or continued storageWhich projects need to be re-quoted and travel to the United States again.

It's not about presuming that there will be an increase in treatment, it's about avoiding putting all your money on the first bill. Additional treatments should be subject to medical discussion before any new cost decisions are made.

Check payee and contract before payment

Hospital expenses are directly checked against the hospital's official collection information; external laboratories, pharmacies or transportation companies check their respective bills respectively. Service fees, medical fees and third-party fees retain their own items and vouchers.

Confirm the account name, currency, amount, payment requirements and refund terms before payment. Cross-currency fees can be recorded separately according to the exchange rate at the time of actual payment, and the handling fees of the bank or payment channel will be considered separately; the tool on this page does not automatically convert currencies.

After payment, save the invoice, details, confirmation letter and corresponding contract version, and distinguish "paid", "pending payment" and "need to re-quote" in the budget.

Budget FAQ

What do the unfilled items in the tool mean?

It only means that it has not been included in the total. It may not be quoted yet, or it may not be needed. The reasons should be stated in your own details.

Can the RMB service fee be filled directly into the US dollar calculator?

Cannot be mixed directly. First save the original currency amount separately, and only after converting it according to the clear exchange rate, can it be entered as a US dollar budget.

The hospital's cost estimate already includes a transfer, do I still need to fill in the transfer column again?

Do not repeat. You can put the combined amount into a category, and fill in the transfer column with only the part that is not yet included.
