Guide to traveling to the United States · IVF in the United States cost estimate

IVF costs in the United States: How do one cycle, package, and full budget compare?

The price of “one IVF cycle” depends on what is included. An egg retrieval, a frozen embryo transfer and a complete course of treatment involve different services, sometimes billed by different providers.

What might “one cycle” in a quote mean?

Frozen embryo transfer cycleThe agreed items in this endometrium preparation, thawing and transferPrevious egg retrieval, embryo construction, long-term storage and transportation.

What publicly available cost information is currently available for verification?

RPMG publishes the example fee ranges below in US dollars, excluding medication. These figures describe that provider’s listed services; they are neither standard prices across Los Angeles nor a complete personal treatment package.

The HRC egg freezing page also discloses basic items such as initial consultation, transvaginal ultrasound, intra-cycle monitoring and hormone testing, egg retrieval, surgical facility fees and first-year storage. The amount that can be used as a unified total price has not been obtained in this round of data. This is what is included in egg freezing and cannot be directly compared to the IVF prices in the table above.

The PFCLA fee page focuses on instructions for pre-cycle inspections, medication, periodic payments and external testing and transportation; personal fees for SCRC, RFC, and INCINTA should also obtain written details according to this plan.

Compare the two cost estimates, first fill in these six items

  1. 01

    Is the treatment path consistent?

Is it a one-time egg retrieval, a single transfer, or a plan that includes follow-up treatment? The situation of using one's own or donated eggs cannot be confused.

  2. 02

Is the number of times consistent with the quantity?

Monitoring, egg retrieval, number of transfers, and testing items charged based on the number of embryos.

  3. 03

    Are inclusions and exclusions consistent?

medication, anesthesia, ICSI, detection, freezing, preservation and thawing are ticked one by one.

  4. 04

    Validity period and payment currency

When does the cost estimate expire, in what currency will it be settled, and whether there are any fees for remittance or credit card payment.

  5. 05

    How to settle plan changes

Different situations such as cancellation of egg retrieval, no available embryos, postponement of transfer, etc. should be inquired separately.

  6. 06

How to calculate prices in future stages

For re-transfer, retrieval of eggs, storage and transfer, should we continue to use this cost estimate or re-quote at that time?

Why should we read the cancellation, refund and change terms in advance?

Treatment may change during medication, egg retrieval, or culture phases. If the contract only states "period fees", you should also further understand which services have been performed, which are unperformed items, whether the medicine can be refunded, and what kind of application is required for refund.

After obtaining the terms, keep the original version, cost estimate date and hospital reply, not only the total number in the chat screenshot. If a certain fee is first collected by another entity, the refund and change rules must also be understood from the corresponding payee.

From cost estimate to your own budget

List medical details and expenses for traveling to the United States separately, and mark "Cost estimate Obtained", "Still Awaiting Cost estimate" and "According to Actual Occurrence". Items that are not asked about should be left blank to be filled in. Do not assume that there is no expenditure just because there is no cost estimate for the time being.

Frequently Asked Questions about Costs

Should I give priority to the cheaper package?

First check whether it meets personal treatment needs, inclusion times and exit conditions. Items that are not used and items that must be paid for separately may change the actual expenditure.

Will U.S. health insurance definitely reimburse IVF?

Not necessarily. Insurance, employer benefits, networks and program coverage vary, and international patients do not have the same coverage by default.

Is the refund plan a success rate promise?

Not the same concept. It is a financial arrangement with eligibility and fee terms, and the scope of the contract needs to be understood separately from the medical outcome.
