Embryonic Genetic Testing PGT for RFC
The RFC's IVF laboratory services list PGT involving preimplantation embryo genetic testing. The specific type of test depends on the patient's medical history, genetic reports, and the purpose of the test.
PGT is the genetic testing of embryo samples before embryo transfer. The sample is usually from an embryo biopsy and the test report is used to discuss embryo transfer options.

|---|---|
| PGT-A | Screening for abnormal chromosome numbers. |
| PGT-M | Targeting specific known single-gene genetic diseases. |
| PGT-SR | Aiming at problems related to chromosome structural rearrangement. |
| Biopsy and Testing | Embryo biopsy and sample testing are different steps and may be completed by different laboratories. |
| Report explanation | Results such as no results, abnormality or mosaicism require explanation by doctors and genetic counselors. |
Testing, Biopsy and Reporting
PGT-A, PGT-M and PGT-SR solve different problems. There may be separate charges for embryo biopsy, sample testing and genetic counseling, and complex reports will be interpreted by doctors and genetic counselors.
PGT does not cover all genetic diseases and birth defects and does not guarantee pregnancy or live birth. Prenatal screening and diagnosis after pregnancy still need to be discussed with the medical team.
Costs and follow-up matters to be checked with the hospital
- Are biopsy, testing, genetic counseling and preservation billed separately?
- How to deal with reports that have no results, require reexamination, or otherwise require further explanation?
- How does the wait for testing and reporting affect cryopreservation and transfer planning?
