RFC How to check the success rate of IVF | CDC query and statistical caliber

Before understanding RFC success rates, determine the year, patient population, and statistical denominator. This page provides verification methods and does not publish percentages or institutional rankings that lack complete criteria.

The meaning of success rate indicator

IndicatorMeaning
Pregnancy rateStatistical pregnancy outcomes according to data definition.
Live birth rateLive birth statistics do not have the same outcome as pregnancy.
Each transferThe denominator is the case or procedure that received transfer.
Each egg retrieval/cycleCalculated from earlier treatment stages, covering different populations.

Example of statistical caliber

Assuming 50 transfers resulting in 20 live births, this is 40% on a transfer basis. If there were additional egg retrieval cycles that did not result in transferable embryos, they are not included in the denominator of these 50 transfers. This is a calculation example, not RFC data.

The year, agency reporting entity, egg source, and age group in the CDC query should be recorded along with the number read. This site does not have the latest values approved for publishing RFC unified success rates.

Transferring data after detection also requires context

If the number is for a population that has been tested and screened for transfer, it does not automatically represent the probability of a live birth from the first start of treatment to the eventual outcome. Testing does not guarantee success, and cycles that do not result in transferable embryos need to be considered in understanding the entire process.

Four more useful questions in consultation

  • Which year, reporting entity and address does this data correspond to?
  • Is the outcome a pregnancy or a live birth? What is the denominator?
  • What are the differences with my age, egg source, and previous treatments?
  • In addition to numbers, what are the risks, limitations, and possible adjustments to the plan?
