SCRC IVF Laboratory

The SCRC embryo lab introduces IVF, ICSI, PGT, vitrification, sperm processing, as well as time-lapse imaging, culture environment and full-day monitoring.

Embryology Business

The official laboratory page lists IVF, ICSI, embryo culture, PGT, vitrification, thawing, as well as sperm processing and cryopreservation.

Cultivation and Assessment

The disclosure relates to time-lapse imaging and embryo grading. Culture reports, test reports and transfer outcomes are different data, and patients can learn about them one by one during treatment communication.

Environment and Monitoring

The laboratory page introduces air filtration, high-tech incubators and round-the-clock monitoring. The official website also states that in order to maintain safety and cleanliness conditions, the laboratory usually cannot arrange on-site visits.

StageSCRC public laboratory operationsCorresponding information
FertilizationConventional IVF or ICSI, deals with sperm, eggs and the fertilization process.Fertilization methods and fertilization results.
Cultivation and AssessmentEmbryos were cultured and development observed using time-lapse imaging and embryo grading.Culture days, development and embryo assessment records.
Coordinating testingArrange embryo biopsy and testing procedures when PGT is required.Test type, inspection submission and report explanation.
Preservation and thawingVitrification, preservation, thawing, and sperm processing and freezing.Frozen samples, storage protocols and subsequent use records.

The culture report describes embryonic development, and the PGT report answers specific genetic questions; whether to accept testing and how to use the test results should be combined with medical history and physician evaluation.

Preservation of fertility before disease treatment

The SCRC laboratory page describes emergency fertility preservation referred by the oncology department, involving egg freezing, sperm freezing, or embryo freezing. The fertility doctor will coordinate the evaluation and timing with the original treatment team, and preservation methods will depend on the condition, time available, and personal circumstances.

This type of treatment should first explain the original treatment plan and time requirements. When ovarian stimulation or other operations are needed, the feasibility will be determined by the two medical teams; the schedule of ordinary IVF cannot be directly applied.

Monitoring point and laboratory are not the same concept

The SCRC lists Beverly Hills and Santa Barbara as clinic centers, Pasadena and Ventura as monitoring sites, and Westlake Village to provide monitoring and new patient consultations. The location of blood draw or ultrasound does not automatically equal the location of embryo culture and storage.

When arranging the cycle, record the egg retrieval, transfer and sample storage addresses respectively. The laboratory is usually not open for on-site visits. You can learn about the process description and personal periodic reports from the team.

Laboratory reports during treatment

The fertilization report records the fertilization situation, the culture report records the embryonic development, and the detection report records the inspected items and conclusions. After cryopreservation, the quantity, status, storage subject and renewal information should also be saved for future transfer or transfer.
