HRC Medical Services
Understand the doctors, locations and treatment connections that need to be confirmed during HRC consultation for each project. Specific applicability, plans and charges are confirmed by the hospital.
In vitro fertilization (IVF)
Understand HRC's in vitro fertilization services and how assessment, monitoring, egg retrieval, culture and transfer map to physician, location and individual plans.
Egg freezing & fertility preservation
Understand HRC egg freezing related services, respectively confirm the current assessment and egg retrieval, long-term storage, and matters that need to be discussed before future use.
Preimplantation genetic testing
Focus on HRC doctors and laboratory information, and understand the consultation on embryo testing, the connection between samples and reports, as well as the applicable conditions and fees that need to be confirmed.
Frozen embryo transfer
After having preserved embryos, understand the matters that need to be implemented when communicating with HRC about pre-transfer assessment, embryo recording, thawing and hospital arrangements.
Treatment items and fertility preservation
In vitro fertilization IVF and ICSI
The official IVF page introduces in vitro fertilization and links to related technologies such as ICSI. IVF involves egg retrieval, fertilization, culture and transfer; ICSI is a laboratory technology in the fertilization process, and whether to use it will be discussed by the doctor and the laboratory based on the situation.
Embryo culture, transfer and freezing
The relevant introductions on the official website include blastocyst transfer, embryo freezing and single embryo transfer. When understanding the plan, you should distinguish between egg retrieval cycle, embryo culture, freezing and subsequent transfer, and do not automatically understand these names as the same package fee.
Egg freezing & fertility preservation
The egg freezing page introduces assessment, cycle monitoring, egg retrieval and cryopreservation. egg freezing preserve unfertilized eggs, and future use still involves thawing, fertilization and follow-up treatment, which does not mean that you will be able to become pregnant in the future.
Third-party reproductive related services
The IVF information on the official website links to egg donation and other content, and some doctors’ personal introductions also involve third-party reproduction. The responsibilities of medical, donor or other service providers, and legal arrangements should be understood individually, and the full cost or scope of services cannot be judged solely by brand name.
The above items are from HRC IVF official instructions and egg freezing official instructions. Listings of services are provided for institutional purposes and do not constitute individual treatment recommendations.
HRC embryo laboratory

Three embryonic laboratories
HRC's lab pages feature Pasadena, Encino, and Newport Beach. The laboratory is responsible for processing eggs, sperm and embryos, completing fertilization, embryo culture, freezing and thawing.
| Location | Open Team Leader | Professional background |
|---|---|---|
| Pasadena | Tih Tan, MS, ELD; Embryologist/Lab Director | Master of Science from Washington State University, started working in reproductive medicine in 1985, and participated in the founding of HRC in 1988. |
| Newport Beach/Orange County | Charlotte Khoury, MS, TS; Senior Embryologist/Scientific Director | Master of Science from California State Polytechnic University. Established HRC Orange County laboratory in 2000. Their work includes micromanipulation and vitrification. |
| Encino | Eric Urcia, MS, TS; Scientific Director | James Madison University, BS in biology, Barry University, MS in biomedicine, worked at Weill Cornell Center for Reproductive Medicine. |
Culture and Freezing Technology
HRC introduces its hypoxic incubator and continuous culture medium system to support embryo development in vitro; the laboratory uses vitrification to preserve blastocysts for subsequent frozen embryo transfer.
Culture records, freezing records and test reports are different documents. Patients can obtain information related to their cycle from the laboratory or reception team.
Division of labor between clinical and laboratory
Physicians develop clinical plans, perform egg retrieval and transfer, and explain treatment options; the embryology team performs fertilization, culture, embryo evaluation, and cryopreservation. When it comes to genetic testing, this also includes biopsy, submission, and report interpretation.
